Registrar of the Kunsthalle Praha Collection

We’re looking for a new colleague to join the Kunsthalle Praha collection team — someone with an eye for detail and a passion for modern and contemporary art. You’ll be responsible for managing loans, acquisitions, and artwork documentation, maintaining the collection database, and collaborating with curators and the exhibition team. Job Description:

Organisation of loan processes:

  • Checking artworks and evaluating loan conditions

  • Coordinating communication with lenders, handling contracts, export permits, and insurance

  • Coordinating handovers and transports, including courier accompaniment when required

  • Carrying out administrative tasks, including contributing to condition reports

Organisation of acquisition and deaccession processes:

  • Managing contracts, communication, and related documentation

  • Coordinating handovers and transports

  • Performing entry checks of newly acquired artworks, including producing condition reports (in collaboration with the collection conservator)

  • Recording acquisitions and deaccessions

Artwork registration, documentation, and cataloguing:

  • Full management of database records, including preparation of materials for the online collection

  • Digitising new media

  • Contributing to the selection and implementation of a new database system and data consolidation

  • Coordinating photography (ad hoc in collaboration with the team)

  • Inventory management

  • Providing photographic reproductions

  • Carrying out other administrative tasks related to collection management

  • Assisting with the management of the art storage

  • Collaborating and coordinating activities between the collection and exhibition departments

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in art history, arts management, museology, conservation, archiving, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent proven professional knowledge and long-term experience as a registrar are also accepted.

  • At least 2 years of experience in museum registration

  • Knowledge of museological standards

  • Familiarity with best practices for storing and preserving collection objects

  • Knowledge of packing and transport requirements for collection objects

  • Experience with record management and electronic databases

  • Very good command of English

  • Responsibility, accuracy, and strong attention to detail

  • Team spirit and a collaborative mindset across departments

  • Ability to set priorities across tasks and projects
