Guided Tour for Teachers (CZE)

Date: 5/6 2025, 5 PM

Explore the current exhibitions Kristyna and Marek Milde: The Call of the Forest and Anna-Eva Bergman & Hans Hartung: And We’ll Never Be Parted—and their potential for artistic education.

The duo Kristyna and Marek Milde focus in their show on the idea that forests and cities are interconnected, living entities. Their works use the motif of the tree not only as a metaphor for resilience and growth, but also as a symbol of the enduring bond between humans and trees. For them, the forest becomes more than a physical place—it’s a space of connection and meaning. The guided tour will explore how the artists think about environmental themes and how they depict the natural systems we depend on, but often take for granted.

The intertwined lives of Anna-Eva Bergman (1909–1987) and Hans Hartung (1904–1989) represent a unique chapter in the history of twentieth-century artistic couples. Their journey began with a meeting in 1920s Paris, followed by separation in 1937, the Second World War, and a reunion in 1952. Despite their deep personal bond, they each developed a distinct artistic style, continuously refining their work in subtle dialogue with one another. This dynamic interplay of difference and similarity is the focus of the exhibition. Bergman and Hartung shared a deep well of inspiration—from elemental forces of nature and the vastness of the cosmos to the language of music—yet each interpreted these themes in a singular, inimitable way. Though fundamentally different, their creative paths repeatedly intersect, forming a shared space where their spirits connect through the act of painting.
