Open Call: Residency Art Omi in the United States

As a result of Kunsthalle Praha‘s cooperation with Art Omi, the open call for the artist in residency programme Visegrad Fellowship in the USA has been extended

Artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary are encouraged to send applications for a month-long residency stay in the USA. The project is organized by Art Omi and supported by us, Kunsthalle Praha.

For the selected artist, the residency programme Visegrad Fellowship, taking place in Ghent (state of New York), starts on 18th June and lasts until 14th July 2020. The auditioning process will be administered by Art Omi & Kunsthalle Praha expert committee, with the final results to be published in February 2020.

Art Omi is a cultural NGO founded in 1992. Their artist in residency programmes have already been visited by more than 2000 artists – each summer, Art Omi invites 30 of them from all around the world to create, experiment, share their ideas and make creative connections. One of the main benefits that is granted to the artists is a Visitors Program, that is when a group of prominent curators, critics, gallerists and artists from NYC is invited to visit the residents, give them feedback, network and establish new possibilities.

All of the artists in residency will be provided with accommodation and board in the campus of Art Omi, located within two-hour train ride from New York City.

For whom:

Art Omi and Kunsthalle Praha for Visegrad Region is a programme arranged for artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Thanks to the support provided by Kunsthalle Praha there is still time until the end of November to submit application for artists from those countries (other application entries had been closed already).

How to apply:

The projects to be pursued and completed during the stay are not limited in any terms nor focused on specific topics. There is no requirement to apply with a concrete proposal. The only documents that are requested for application are CV, bio, brief artist statement, 8 images or 3 video excerpts, 2 references (no letters of recommendation required).
