Podvečírek: William Kentridge in Dialogue with Christelle Havranek

Termín konání: 13/4 2026, 18.00

Podvečírek is a series of debate evenings organised by Kunsthalle Praha and Reportér magazine, opening up discussions on society, politics, and the contemporary world.

On Monday, 13 April, the guest will be one of the most significant and internationally acclaimed artists of our time, William Kentridge, in conversation with Christelle Havranek, Chief Curator of Kunsthalle Praha. Kentridge’s work has been profoundly shaped by his experience of growing up in South Africa during apartheid, as well as by his long-standing engagement with questions of power, memory, history, and social responsibility. His works have been presented in leading institutions worldwide, and his practice spans drawing, film, performance, and opera.

The discussion will take place in the gallery’s industrial space and will be traditionally accompanied by a personal selection of one artwork from the Kunsthalle Praha collection, chosen by the guests as a quiet yet powerful commentary on the debate. The evening will also offer a first insight into Kentridge’s upcoming exhibition The Battle Between YES and NO, which will open at Kunsthalle Praha on 16 April 2026.
