Performance: Kasia Fudakowski

Date: 17/3  2025 6 PM

Internationally renowned artist Kasia Fudakowski is coming to Prague with her performance aptly titled This is Not a Performance. She first presented it as part of a lecture at Kölnische Kunstverein in 2014 and continues to develop it. Its theme and execution are a surprise for the audience.

Following the performance, there will be a conversation with the curator of the Kunsthalle Prague collection, Barbora Ropková.

Kasia Fudakowski (born 1985, London) lives and works in Berlin. She studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2006, and then moved to Berlin. Her diverse and playful practice, which includes sculpture, film, performance, and writing, explores societal puzzles through material encounters, surreal logic, and comedic theory. Her ever-expanding lifelong sculpture Continuouslessness (2017 - ongoing) uses a solid modular system of connecting panels, allowing for complete sculptural freedom within a fixed framework, and is intended to be completed only upon the artist’s death.

Her work, often referring to the charm and danger of binary categorization and the subsequent absurdity, reveals contradictions between cultural norms. It also frequently becomes the target of her own critiques, seriously and irreverently examining her role as an artist and its stereotypes. Her long-standing engagement with failure and the redefinition of success has resulted in a series of tragicomic performances and texts.
