As members of Kunsthalle Praha, you have a final chance to explore the exhibition Anna-Eva Bergman & Hans Hartung: And We’ll Never Be Parted during special opening hours.
The intertwined lives of Anna-Eva Bergman (1909–1987) and Hans Hartung (1904–1989) are unique in the history of twentieth-century artist couples. Their shared story spans their first meeting in Paris in the 1920s, separation in 1937, the Second World War and their reunion in 1952. Despite their closeness, both artists maintained entirely distinct styles and constantly refined their approaches in dialogue with one another.
The exhibition explores this interplay of difference and affinity. Bergman and Hartung drew on common sources of inspiration such as natural forces, the far reaches of the cosmos and the language of music, yet each interpreted them in an unmistakably individual way. While their works remain fundamentally different, their paths often intersect and create a shared space where painting became a way of living together.
