The documentary Monk in Pieces is a sensitive portrait of American composer, performer, and pioneer of interdisciplinary art Meredith Monk. The film traces her artistic journey from early misunderstanding and criticism to international recognition as one of the most important innovators of her generation. Through archival footage, musical excerpts, and contributions from figures such as Björk and David Byrne, it reveals the unique world of her work, where voice, movement, and image come together. The result is a poetic mosaic about creativity, memory, ageing, and the power of art to cross established boundaries.
The screening will be introduced by music journalist Pavel Klusák.
