As part of the accompanying program for the Building Sculptures project by Krištof Kintera, we present a film that uncovers the origins and context of these often controversial buildings from the second half of the 20th century. Amidst the gray sea of prefab panel buildings, exceptional, spiritual, and timeless structures also emerged during this period, capturing attention even in the West.

Jan Zajíček, inspired by an idea from Vladimir 518, created a unique feature-length exploration of the pre-revolution architectural scene. Against the backdrop of stunning footage of the most intriguing Czech and Slovak post-war buildings, enriched by testimonies from leading architects and theorists, a vivid portrait of the era unfolds—where, alongside official and systematically structured works, much organic, modern, and inspiring architecture thrived.
