Designer Workshop: Jewelry and Objects with Zuzana Kalips

Date: 22 November 2026, 10:00

How can a flat piece of metal become a piece of jewellery, a button, or a small object? Members will see what happens to metal when it is given the chance to move beyond its original shape. Guided by Zuzana Kalips, they will work with a hydraulic press and turn pieces of stainless steel from material previously used in an exhibition into a new small object or piece of jewellery.

Zuzana Kalips studied at the K.O.V. studio at UMPRUM in Prague. Her work combines sculpture and jewellery. She works with the physical properties of different materials and looks at the tension between their natural state and the ways people alter them. She is interested in how much a material can take, how it changes under pressure, and what traces these changes leave behind.

The workshop follows on from the exhibition Memory of Touch: Chapter II, which explores fragility, sensitivity, and resilience.
