Kunsthalle Praha (art gallery)
Kunsthalle Praha is a non-governmental, non-profit institution dedicated to modern and contemporary art, located in the centre of Prague at Klárov. The gallery was created through the conversion of a historic industrial building and serves as a platform for connecting the Czech and international art scenes through temporary exhibitions, educational projects, and cultural events.

Overview
Kunsthalle Praha operates on the “kunsthalle” model, meaning it does not hold a permanent collection but focuses on organising exchange and thematic exhibitions. The institution aims to present visitors with diverse perspectives on 20th- and 21st-century art. Its premises include three large gallery spaces, a Design Shop, and a café with a terrace overlooking Petřín Hill and Prague Castle.

Architecture and History
Kunsthalle Praha is housed in the former Zenger Transformer Station, built between 1930 and 1934. The original Neo-Classical design by architect Vilém Kvasnička, which contributed to the skyline of Malá Strana, underwent a radical transformation led by Schindler Seko Architects.
While the historic façade and selected elements were preserved, the interior was transformed into a technologically advanced, multifunctional space for presenting both local and international art. For this sensitive conversion, the project received the Grand Prix of Architects – National Architecture Award in 2022.

Mission and Programme
Kunsthalle Praha focuses on several key areas:
• Exhibitions: Organising monographic and group exhibitions by renowned Czech and international artists.
• Education: Programmes for schools, families, and the general public that foster critical thinking and engagement with culture.
• Publishing: Producing scholarly publications and exhibition catalogues.
• Live Arts: Hosting performances, lectures, discussions, and workshops.

Founder
Kunsthalle Praha was established by The Pudil Family Foundation, founded by Petr and Pavlína Pudil. The foundation has long supported visual art, with a vision to create an open space in Prague for dialogue between local and international art scenes. The institution is privately funded, complementing the network of state and municipal galleries in the Czech Republic.
