Guided Tour: The Call of the Forest with Biologist Martin Hůla (CZE)

Date: 21/5 2025, 19.00

The exhibition The Call of the Forest will be introduced by curator Theo Carnegy-Tan, followed by a talk by biologist Martin Hůla. His lecture will focus on the psychological significance of the human–nature relationship, with a particular emphasis on forest environments. Drawing on current findings in environmental psychology and related disciplines, he will challenge the often simplified dichotomy of “human vs. nature.” The talk will present a perspective of humans as an integral part of nature—not as passive observers, but as active co-creators of a living system.

Mgr. Martin Hůla, Ph.D., is a biologist affiliated with Charles University (Faculty of Science and Faculty of Humanities) and the National Institute of Mental Health. His research focuses on the evolutionary aspects of aesthetic perception of nature—especially flowers—and the impact of forests on the human psyche.
