Developed by Kunsthalle Praha in collaboration with the Association of Debate Clubs, Debating in the Gallery is the first project of its kind on the Czech gallery scene.
It gives secondary school students a space to discuss art while developing critical thinking, argumentation, media literacy, and presentation skills.
1. First meeting
Training in debating rules, introduction to debate topics, and study materials for self-study or use in school.
2. Preparation
Teachers can actively engage in the preparation, or students can arrange individual consultations with the Kunsthalle Praha team.
3. Final debate
Two teams of three will attempt to defend or refute the validity of a given statement. At the end, an instructor from the Association of Debate Clubs will provide feedback, and together with an invited art expert, they will continue the discussion.
Debating is not conceived as a competitive format but as a platform for open discussion, questions, and feedback.
